U.S. files antitrust suit alleging inflated real estate agent fees – Houston Chronicle

Update: Documents filed Friday show the National Association of Realtors has promised, among other changes, to alter its rules to make it clear that real estate agent services provided to prospective homebuyers are not free and to make it easier to for the public to see commissions.

An antitrust suit filed Thursday by the United States against the National Association of Realtors argues the way that real estate agents are paid, according to NAR rules, results in artificially inflated fees paid by homeowners.
